Plan your visit

Is VISII right for your child?

A home for the curious, the creative, and the questioning.

VISII is for learners with genuine curiosity and real interests to pursue — children who are ready to help steer their own learning and are comfortable with questions that don’t have a single right answer.

It’s a place to belong, too. Students who’ve felt overlooked, or who simply learn differently, often find their people here — and they thrive most when their family genuinely wants an inquiry-based education, not just an alternative to the conventional one.

Open doors

VISII isn’t a school for a privileged few. We work to lower the financial and other barriers to joining — because a community of different backgrounds and ways of thinking makes the learning richer for everyone.

Good questions

The things families ask us most.

What grades does VISII serve?

VISII is a middle school for learners in grades 5 through 8.

We're weighing homeschooling — how is VISII different?

Many of our families were considering homeschooling when they found us. VISII offers a lot of what draws people to home learning — individualized, interest-led, flexible days — but with a dedicated team of educators, a real peer community, and the accountability of an independent school. Think of it as a middle path between conventional school and homeschooling.

Is inquiry learning academically rigorous?

Yes. Following real questions doesn't mean lowering the bar — it means raising engagement. Our learners work toward and beyond BC's core competencies, and instead of a letter grade a few times a year, families get descriptive feedback and a clear view of where their child sits on each skill. You see more of your child's learning, not less.

How will my child transition to high school?

Our program builds the skills that matter most in grade 9 and beyond: self-direction, strong writing and reasoning, collaboration, and genuine confidence. We support each family through the transition to their next school.

What does it cost? Are bursaries available?

We believe cost shouldn't be a barrier to the right fit. Bursaries are available for families facing financial barriers — please ask us about tuition and bursary support when you reach out.

Will we get to visit before deciding?

Yes. We just ask families to start with the application so we can make sure we're a fit before booking time in the classroom. Once we receive it, we'll arrange for your child to spend a trial day with us — the best way to know if VISII is right for them.
