Simone Littledale

Simone Littledale

Principal · Lead Teacher · Inclusive Education Coordinator

Simone (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist and educator with a passion for inquiry-based education. Her varied work history includes copywriting for nonprofits, production pottery, and educational falconry. A native Spanish speaker, she has worked as a community arts facilitator with Amazonian Indigenous communities through Fundación Calanoa, and is a member of the governing board of the Rocky Point Bird Observatory. She holds a B.A. in Creative Writing with a minor in Spanish and an Education diploma focusing on visual art and Spanish, both from the University of Victoria. A grateful guest on Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ territory for over fifteen years, Simone is an avid naturalist, forager, gardener, and birdwatcher.

Sasha Ilnyckyj

Vice Principal · Teacher

Sasha (he/him) is an educator working in Lək̓ʷəŋən territory in Victoria. His educational philosophy gravitates around fostering community, empowering youth, creating generative learning, and forming links between the class and the broader world. His current pet projects include collaborative music-making, hydroponic gardening, indigenizing learning, and using inquiry in the classroom. He holds a B.A. in history and psychology (McGill University), a diploma in classical music (Capilano University), and a B.Ed. with specializations in science and history (University of Victoria) — an eclectic path charted in the hope that breadth would let him design interdisciplinary explorations that engage and empower his students.

Aaron was born and raised in Victoria and is passionate about teaching tech, music, art, and history to students of all ages. Before VISII he spent eight years as Head of Technology at The Harbour School in Hong Kong, designing and teaching tech curriculum for K–12. He received his Master's in Educational Technology from UBC in 2022. Outside of teaching, Aaron loves to produce music, take photos, and paint digitally.

Education Assistant

Madison is a dynamic and curious person, a parent of twins who practices community care in various roles. Working as a crisis response worker, doula, and education assistant lets them connect meaningfully with their community. Madison prefers to be outdoors — learning with the land — and believes in empowering youth through team building and learning through play. A guest on the territory of the Lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, Madison recognizes the importance of innovative learning and decolonizing practices.

Meghan Carrico

Meghan Carrico

Consultant

Meghan is a principal, education consultant, distributed-learning teacher, partner, mother, and recently a grandmother. Her passion for innovative education has helped people start a variety of initiatives, from schools to outdoor programs. She holds a B.A. from Antioch College, a teaching certificate from Simon Fraser University, and an M.A. in Leadership from Royal Roads University. Meghan loves textile arts, costume design, theatre, baby goats, and mathematical thinking, and founded the TES music theatre program out of the Revue Theatre on Granville Island.

Pisco

Pisco · School Mascot

Though not on the payroll, Pisco is an important member of the VISII community. Mrs. Littledale's parrotlet comes to school when he is in the mood and provides avian mentorship and inspiration. Pisco's interests include singing little songs, chewing holes in things, and eating almonds.

The Epiphyte Educational Society

VISII is operated by the Epiphyte Educational Society, founded in 2020 by parents and professional educators passionate about inquiry learning. Directors are elected at the Annual General Meeting each November.
